Orange Tree Box Crafting

It is in an artisanal workshop,
in the heart of Anjou, we create our orange tree boxes with passion.
Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, following the timeless traditions of the forge, with more than 12 hours devoted to every box.

The structure of the planters
is made from 3 mm steel, hand-assembled. We choose steel over other materials for its strength, lightness, shock resistance, and authenticity. Always a rival to wood and stone, it stands the test of centuries.
The Le Nôtre planter is built from 120 steel pieces, each cut, shaped, and welded by hand.

The panels are in Douglas wood
(Oregon pine), naturally class 3, assembled and painted in our workshop, with acacia as an optional alternative.
Oak was ruled out: heavy, prone to releasing tannins harmful to the plant, and less suited than expected to humid outdoor environments.
The wooden slats
Each panel is made up of 27 mm thick boards with double chamfering, in the “barley grain” pattern (but without the conventional tongue system). They are reinforced by two hot-dip galvanized steel flats ensuring rigidity and durability.
A stainless steel cap crowns the assembly. Panels are removable to allow necessary root pruning (rabotage).

Treatment of the orangery planters
We entrust anti-rust treatment by zinc spraying (schopping) and the painting of steel parts to a recognized metal protection specialist.
The bottom is a hot-dip galvanized grid, ensuring excellent drainage.
